Moving forward with plans to make Catholic Book Talk a reality. Presently I am making connections for possible partnership with different venues so as to make this as complete a program as possible. So far everything looks very positive and I am hoping for a January or February launching date.
Not quite sure just what my next steps are supposed to be - so praying a lot. Hum de dum….
As an author and publisher I was looking for a way to get my books into bookstores. What else is new with authors, right? Anyway I found out that there is a wonderful outreach for Independent Bookstores called Shelf Awareness that informs Booksellers about the latest news and happenings in the Book world. Shelf Awareness allows the bookstores to get the NEWS first! before someone comes walking into the store and wants to order the latest and greatest book they just heard about on Good Morning America.
I subscribed to these updates for about a week and was so excited about what it was accomplishing that I wanted to do the same for the Catholic World. It seemed like such a wonderful win/win for authors/publishers and bookstores.
So Catholic Book Talk is my attempt to do for Catholic Bookstores and Publishers what Shelf Awareness is doing. I am just starting with what I can do today - with the few contacts and outreach that I have - and hope that it will grow and expand. I know this is not something that I can do on my own…. I will need feedback and help from all segments of the Catholic Media, Publishing and Booksellers to make it work - BUT - with a lot of help from friends (will you be one?) I think it can become a great tool to promote Catholic reading.
